Vaginal issues are difficult to ignore. Many women struggle with discomfort, feelings of embarrassment, and problems in their intimate relationships as a result of their vaginal issues. A lot of women who suffer from these issues are unaware of the procedures that can be used to address them, like labiaplasty.
Labiaplasty offers women suffering from vaginal issues with a way to regain their quality of life so that they can feel more like themselves again. Labiaplasty is often performed for primarily cosmetic reasons to help women feel more comfortable with the way their body looks.
At Dr. Marcos Cosmetic Surgery, we strive to provide our labiaplasty patients with exceptional results in an environment where they feel listened to and well cared for.
What Is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty refers to the surgery performed to reduce or reshape the labia for either aesthetic purposes or to address the twisting and tugging of the labia, which can be uncomfortable and painful.
Labiaplasty is designed to address many specific issues, including:
- Labial asymmetry
- Excess labial tissue
- Protruding labial tissue
- Extra folds of the clitoral hood
Both the labia minora (inner lips) and labia majora (outer lips) can be reduced in size to suit the aesthetic needs of the patient and to prevent discomfort. Extreme care and precision are used to ensure that the results look as symmetrical and natural as possible. The incisions used for the procedure are small and are well-camouflaged, and absorbable sutures are used to tightly close them afterwards.
During your initial consultation. Dr. Ikeda will examine the area and ask about what your desired results are so that he can formulate an appropriate surgical plan. He will also go over your medical history and check your current overall health to ensure that you are fit to undergo the procedure.
Recovering from Labiaplasty
You will be provided with antibiotics following your procedure to prevent any likelihood of infection or other issues while healing. The surgical area can become dry and irritated during this time, so it is recommended that you liberally apply lubrication to the area for around three to four weeks. You will also need to avoid engaging in sexual intercourse for three to four weeks.
Since the sutures are absorbable, you do not need to worry about coming in to have them removed. There should be no pain during your recovery, but if pain or discomfort is experienced, be sure to contact Dr. Ikeda to schedule an appointment so that the issue can be properly examined.
Once the area is fully healed, there should be a noticeable improvement in appearance and the results should look incredibly natural.
